Captain (Retired) Steve Sudkamp
Strategic Specialist for Network and Satellite Operations
Captain Steve Sudkamp has more than 30 years of experience leading U.S. and allied military professionals of all services in a wide array of demanding strategic, operational and technology environments. He has consistently demonstrated the ability to strategize and implement large complex information technology projects in a wide variety of challenging positions.
Steve’s most recent efforts were as Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory Representative to the Naval Network Warfare Command where he focused on bandwidth and satellite issues and computer network operations including detailed end-to-end analyses. Throughout this period he has been at the forefront of information centric operations.
Steve served the first twenty years of his Navy career aboard nuclear submarines including the command of the USS Henry Clay (SSBN-625). Succeeding assignments focused almost entirely on Joint Warfighting and Joint Information Technology, including three years on the faculty of the Air War College, three years as Director Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4) (J6) U.S. Forces Japan and two years as Deputy Director C4 (J6) Strategic Command. He accomplished major interoperability projects with the Japan Self Defense Forces while at U.S Forces Japan, and worked major computer, network, and security strategic communication projects at STRATCOM.
Steve is a 1973 Phi Beta Kappa Graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and holds an M.B.A. from Auburn University. He is also a graduate of the Air War College.
